Jesús Navarro and the evolution of a pop star’s style

I’m a little embarrassed to admit, but in 2005 I was singing to “Yo Quisiera” by Reik and popped all the collars of my various polos shirts, that I wore at the same time, to look like its vocalist Jesús Navarro. Eleven years later, fortunately neither he nor I wear layer polo shirts, because it’s normal for a person to change their style. However, Jesus‘ style has changed in front of the cameras and has turned into a very successful career. “The look we had on the first album, with bleached and ironed hair, layered polos and giant sunglasses and all that ,makes me feel a little embarrassed .” Today, with almost 30 years, the vocalist of “a band called Reik” is about to release his first album since 2011, DES/AMOR, with a more mature and different sound.

The world of music has greatly influenced Jesus style. “I think that when you are in a creative environment you are exposed to more kinds of people and different styles. There are more references and there is also more attention to what you are wearing.” Today, although he does not think it is particularly risky, he wears pieces with much more design than most men in his position. “For a Reik show I try stretch my limits a ittle bit more, but in general for work I try to dress more conservative.” But in his daily life, he is a bit more avant-garde (as I like to tell him), with looks from Haider Ackermann, Stefano Pilati and Christophe Lemaire.

“I guess I’ve tried several hats, to see which ones I like and which I do not. I have enjoyed changing and growing and making horrible mistakes a thousand times.” However, a look that we will see him soon is what he describes as ‘Chilango Dandy’: “There are many things that freak me out. All that stuff like suspenders, colored socks, little flower on the lapel makes me feel very uncomfortable.”
